“Red is a color both soft and strong. Love, too, can be both soft and strong—the lightness of hand holding and kisses and crushing and teenage romance against the power of lust and the strength of loving another more deeply than yourself, to want to hold their hand forever, to stare into their eyes till you go blind, to walk with them till your legs break, to listen to their voice till you grow deaf, to fall asleep every night hoping they’re the one beside you at least in some realm or other dimension. Pink is too soft a color to capture the pain of real painful raw love. ”
