Loneliness is grey because…
“It’s bleak and empty, like a vast sheet of concrete.”
“When your all alone, it’s dull. One can feel numb and empty with no direction. Black has a direction. Not a very promising one, but it still has a sense of direction and seemingly a purpose. Grey, however, doesn’t have a direction. It’s just... grey. It’s dull and bland, which encapsulates the feeling of loneliness.”
“Grey is empty and all alone away from the other bright colors, and is often overlooked.”
“Rain clouds are gray.”
“Loneliness is bleak and boring, just like the color gray.”
“Grey is desolate and quiet.”
“Loneliness is gray because the feeling you have is numb. It has no color.
”
“It’s boring and sad at the same time, the perfect definition of grey and loneliness.”
“You feel peace but also a sense of emptiness and longing.”
“People associate grey with depression, gloominess, and sadness. Therefore, one would assume the majority would vote grey for loneliness.”
“I made some friends today so I feel like a rainbow, and gray is the opposite of rainbow.”
“Loneliness is gray because its more bittersweet than black but definitely still in the mono era.”
“Loneliness just gives me the vibe of grey. Loneliness is quirky, odd, and a little unorthodox, similar to the color grey. Grey is not suited for everybody, and neither is loneliness.”
“It’s sad, foggy, and confusing in a way.”
“If you’re alone (and don’t want to be), you probably feel sad, bored and maybe you have doubts about your friends. All of that together feels grey to me.”
“Sometimes you have no one, which makes you lonely, and I think of that as black. But sometimes you can have lots of people around you, and you could be very social, but at the same time, feel lonely deep down, which I think of as white. And since it’s kind of a mix of them, it’s grey.”
Loneliness is black because…
“Black is a void, empty of all colors.”
“First, obviously black is depression, despair, grief, and somber feelings. Second, I always picture loneliness as someone with their head down in an alley, and alleys are usually black, dark and gloomy. Third, black is the color of space at night, and nobody is awake at night, no people are awake, nobody to socialize with, nobody to talk to, lonely. Also, lots of famous arts and literature describe black as lonely as well, along with the psychological feeling triggered when we see black. Grey would be a fine choice, but I find grey to be too light to find as lonely, since I see more of a tight circle of friends with grey rather than nobody with black. ”
“Its like darkness, you can’t see anything, or anyone; not sure of what lies ahead, or who is there.”
“Loneliness makes me think of being in an empty void, and I associate the void with the color black.”
“Because in the dark, you can’t find a hint of light, aka good friends.”
“A dark pit that you feel no one can reach you at.”
“You’re alone in the big black void.”
“The void is loneliness.”
“Loneliness is black because black reminds me of darkness, and when you’re in darkness you feel lonely.”
Loneliness is blue because…
“Loneliness is blue because blue is tears and sadness, and also the ocean. And the ocean is big and vast, so it can be lonely out there at sea.”
“Blue is a solitary color. When I’m lonely or sad I feel ‘blue.’ Blue is a void but calmer than black and less harsh than white. When feeling blue I feel vastness like a sad blue ocean. Blue makes me feel insignificant and small. It makes me realize that I’ll be lonely and it’s alright.”
“Because I associate loneliness with sadness, and sadness is blue.”
“Of an big sky, peaceful but empty, like a void. It not colorless, it is simply plain.”
“Lonliness is blue because it makes me sad.”
“Blue is simply a solitary color, one that envelops someone in a light soft abyss, like the ocean or the sky, even the dominating way it bleeds through the color wheel, someone can’t help but feel overwhelmed by the vastness. Perhaps the concept is that something that big makes you feel that much smaller.”
Loneliness is white because…
“Black fills the space and so does gray, despite their darker tones giving the feeling.”
Loneliness is purple because…
“It is noble color—good people are few. It is in between blue (sad) and red (anger), and such things lead to solitude.”
“Not only is it close to blue (which is associated with sadness which is probably tied to loneliness), but it’s also one of the few colors to have almost no rhyme.”
Loneliness is yellow because…
“Yellow of early spring when there are not yet leaves and no one is outside.”
